AC repair & installation
Cold Air Back Today, Not Next Week
When Philly humidity hits 95°, an AC appointment three days out is useless. Same-day repair and honest replacement guidance — that's the AJM standard.
Central air, all brands
Fast when it's broken. Honest when it's dying.
Air conditioners fail on the hottest days — that's not bad luck, it's physics. Heat waves push every weak component past its limit. When yours quits, AJM answers with same-day service across Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, trucks stocked with capacitors, contactors, and fan motors — the parts that actually fail.
We service every major brand of central air, from repairs and refrigerant work to full system replacement. And because cooling is half of a system that also heats, we look at the whole picture: airflow, ductwork, insulation — the stuff that determines whether your AC's output actually reaches your bedrooms.
If your system is on its last legs, you'll hear it from us straight, with replacement options and real efficiency math. Modern systems routinely cut cooling costs 20-40% over 15-year-old units. But if a $180 capacitor buys another three summers, that's the recommendation you'll get.
What's included
Complete cooling service
Diagnosis and repair in one trip for most failures — priority scheduling during heat waves.
Right-sized, high-efficiency systems with upfront quotes at multiple price points.
Leak detection and repair done right — not endless top-offs that mask a dying coil.
Pre-summer coil cleaning, refrigerant checks, and electrical testing that prevent breakdowns.
Cold air that never reaches upstairs is a duct problem. We fix the whole path.
Controls that cool the rooms you're in — not the whole house at once.
Know the warning signs
Six signs your AC is struggling
Airflow without cold usually means refrigerant or compressor trouble. Shut it off and call — running it makes it worse.
Ice means airflow or refrigerant problems. It always ends the same way: a system that quits on a hot day.
Starting and stopping every few minutes murders compressors — the most expensive part in the system.
A right-sized, healthy system dehumidifies. Clammy air means something's off.
Efficiency loss shows on the bill before comfort fails. A tune-up often claws it back.
Electrical buzz and mechanical grind are pre-failure sounds. Cheap fixes now, expensive later.

How it works
How we get your cool back
- 1Call before noon, cooled by night
Describe the symptoms — heat-wave no-cool calls get priority routing.
- 2Whole-system diagnosis
Refrigerant, electrical, airflow, and drainage — we test the system, not just the symptom.
- 3Options with honest math
Repair now, replace now, or repair-then-plan — you'll see the numbers for each.
- 4Verified cold before we leave
Supply-air temperature measured, pressures verified, condensate draining clean.
Common questions
Air Conditioning Services FAQs
How fast can you come during a heat wave?
No-cool calls are priority-routed and same-day in almost every case. Households with elderly residents, infants, or medical needs go to the front of the line — tell us when you call.
My AC needs refrigerant every summer. Is that normal?
No — refrigerant doesn't get used up. Needing a yearly top-off means there's a leak, and every top-off is money spent masking it. We find and fix the leak, or tell you honestly when the coil isn't worth saving.
What SEER rating should I buy?
Higher SEER costs more upfront and saves monthly. For most Philly homes the sweet spot is mid-range — we'll show the actual payback for your usage rather than pushing the biggest number.
Can you replace just the outdoor unit?
Usually not a good idea — mismatched coils lose efficiency and can void warranties. We'll quote it if your indoor unit is genuinely young enough to keep, and tell you when it isn't.
